Harness Girth Measurement

Harness girth measurement is the widest point of your dog's chest and rib cage area.  Harness sizes are based on the girth measurement and can vary widely between breeds or even individual dogs. It is important to accurately measure your dog's girth for the best possible harness fit.

To measure your dog, stand over your dog and place one end of a measuring tape on the dog's spine just above the widest part of the dog's rib cage.  With your other hand, wrap the tape measure behind the dog's front legs and around the dog's body, making sure to go underneath the widest part of the rib care as shown in the diagram.

It is important to order a harness that has an appropriate girth measurement for your dog.  If your dog's measurement falls between two different sizes, consider ordering the larger size to allow room for growth.

The all-new Y-Harness 2.0 from Herm Sprenger is their latest design based on their classic Y-Harness.  Now made with wider padded straps, sturdy stainless steel fittings and featuring handy Duraloc buckles for a no fuss fit. This harness is constructed from durable yet quick-drying neoprene and polypropylene mix.

Sizing Information:

The straps of the dog harness are 15 mm wide in size XXS, 20 mm wide in sizes XS and S and 25 mm wide in sizes M-XL.

Sizing recommendations based on dog breed are a rough guide only.  See diagram below for specific sizing information.

XXS: Small breeds such as Dachshunds or Chihuahuas.
XS: Small breeds such as Jack Russell Terriers, Miniature Schnauzers or Miniature Poodles.
Small: Small breeds such as Cocker Spanier or Beagle and large breed puppies.
Medium: Medium breeds such as Labradors, Dalmations or Australian Shepherds.
Large: Large breeds such as Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds or Mailnois.
XL: Large breeds such as Kangals, Dogue de Bordeaux or Leonbergers.

Cleaning Suggestions: For general dirt & grime, all you'll need is some water and a soft brush. If you're dog has done some serious off-roading, you can wash your harness with mild detergent on cold/low spin, but we highly suggest laying your harness out in the sun to dry versus tossing it in your dryer.
